## Frequently asked questions

### Will it remove the background from any photo?

This tool works by colour matching, not AI. It is excellent for logos, icons, screenshots, and product photos with a flat background. Busy real-world photos with mixed backgrounds may need touch-ups in another editor.

### How does auto-detect work?

We sample the four corners of your image, average the colour, and treat that as the background. This is the right default for cut-out style photos. You can switch it off and pick the exact colour to remove yourself.

### What is tolerance?

Tolerance is how close a pixel's colour has to be to the background colour to be removed. Higher values remove more nearby colours. Start at 30 for a clean white background and raise it for textured backgrounds.

### What is the soft edges option?

When on, we fade pixel transparency across a small band around the cut so the edge looks smooth rather than jagged. Turn it off if you want a hard cut.
